New York (PRWEB UK) 22 July 2014
Spongecell announced today that CTO Byron Ellis’ new book, Real-Time Analytics: Techniques To Analyze and Visualize Streaming Data, has been published by John Wiley & Sons. The book is now available on Amazon.
The book draws on Ellis’s experience building large-scale data processing centers and gives readers insight into how to build an effective real-time analytics platform from the ground up.
“Today’s easy access to data means industries ranging from healthcare to hockey can take advantage of analytic tools to make smarter, more effective decisions,” said Ellis. “This book shares techniques that can help businesses build the infrastructure necessary to gather and process data efficiently and in real-time.”
Ellis has made a career out of solving complex computational problems. Prior to joining Spongecell as its CTO, Byron served as chief data scientist at LivePerson and CTO at online ad exchange AdBrite. Byron earned his doctorate in statistics from Harvard University, where his research focused on Bayesian networks, and did his postdoctoral work at Stanford Medical School, where he used statistical models to help better understand autoimmune diseases such as lupus.
“With demand for more personalized, data-driven creative, ad tech providers need to process enormous amounts of data in real time,” said Spongecell CEO Ben Kartzman. “Byron is one of our industry’s leading data scientists – we’re proud to have him leading the development of our data infrastructure and are happy he is sharing his wealth of knowledge with the wider community.”
