NEXCOM has won Intel’s Technology Innovation Accelerated (TIA) Award in the Industrial Solution category at the 2014 Intel Developer Forum (IDF14). Outshining its competitors, NEXCOM is the only Taiwan-based company to win the award and is honored for its NIO 100 industrial Internet of Things (IoT) gateway. The award-winning NIO 100 is based on Intel® Gateway Solutions for the Internet of Things (Intel® Gateway Solutions for IoT) and integrates Intel® Quark technology. The NIO 100 can address the need of industrial applications, helping the industrial sector embark on a new chapter for industrial IoT.

To accelerate the proliferation of industrial IoT, the NIO 100 industrial IoT gateway is specially developed to bridge the communication gap between the operation domain and the enterprise domain. Featuring Intel® Quark™ SoC X1000 and fieldbus networking capability, the NIO 100 can consolidate and perform preliminary analysis on the field data collected from field devices—including programmable logic controllers (PLC) and remote I/Os—via serial protocols. In addition, the data can be transferred to an upper layer of industrial control network via Modbus TCP links for big data analytics.

To facilitate the management of the industrial IoT gateway, the NIO 100 is equipped with SMS alert function to monitor field devices and alert factory staff to a situation using text messages. In addition, it is equipped with remote management NEXCOM Xcare™ 3.0 suite to provide remote monitoring, configuration, and recovery of the NIO 100.

NEXCOM NIO 100 encompasses key attributes required for industrial IoT gateway. Combing its compact size and easy-to-use features, the NIO 100 has many application scenarios ranging from smart home in the home sector to building and facility management in the industrial sector. As an Associate member of the Intel® Internet of Things Solution Alliance, NEXCOM is proud of its TIA-winning NIO 100 and sees it as a joint effort of our partners. With strong pushes coming across industries for the adoption of industrial IoT, we can see significant progress in the foreseeable future.

NEXCOM also demonstrated the NIFE 100 IoT controller solution. Powered by Intel® Atom™ processor E3826, the solution integrates Intel Gateway Solutions for the IoT, Rockwell* PLCs, InduSoft* SCADA software, and Microsoft* OPC Server software to give a live demonstration of the control. The IoT controller solution can accelerate data exchange and command passing-down, increasing manufacturing efficiency. The NIFE 100 can also take the field data to the cloud to provide insightful information for business decision makers. At the IDF14, NEXCOM’s NIFE 100 gave IDF14 visitors a chance to witness an innovative application that is almost ready for market, more than a blueprint design.

About NEXCOM: Founded in 1992, NEXCOM has five business units which focus on vertical markets across industrial computer, in-vehicle computer, multimedia, network and communication, and intelligent digital security industries. NEXCOM serves its customers worldwide through its subsidiaries in five major industrial countries. NEXCOM gains stronghold in vertical markets with its industry-leading products including the rugged fanless computer NISE series, the in-vehicle computer VTC series, the network and security appliance NSA series and the digital signage player NDiS series.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) November 06, 2012

Equalis, the leading provider of numerical analysis, visualization and simulation solutions for engineers and scientists, built on the Scilab open source platform, today announced the availability of parallelization and cluster modules for accelerated numerical analysis computing. Equalis Lightning provides multi core parallelization and Equalis Thunder provides node to node cluster parallelization. These new modules provide users with complete computational scalability starting with 16 physical or virtual cores on a single workstation (Lightning) and up to hundreds of cores on a cluster (Thunder). Equalis Thunder and Lightning modules are powered by Supercomputing Engine Technology (SET) by Advanced Cluster System. Equalis has an exclusive global partnership with Advanced Cluster Systems for the use of SET with Scilab.

Equalis Thunder and Lightning allow users to solve computationally intensive problems using multi-core processors, GPUs, and computer clusters with minimal effort. Equalis Lightning enables users to develop Scilab programs on a multi-core computer and then scale up to many nodes with Equalis Thunder. In this way, computationally intensive applications run on computer clusters, clouds, and grids taking advantage of distributed computing to efficiently accelerate tasks. Benchmark results show that Equalis Thunder and Lightning scales computation tasks linearly with low parallelization overhead.

Equalis provides premier software modules on top of the Scilab open source platform and industrial grade support through subscription programs; typically costing 90% less than purchasing equivalent software applications. Training, deployment and consulting services are also available for a fast start. Equalis premier modules include: Communications, Connectivity, Control and Power Systems, Fixed Point, Instrument Control, Neural Networks, Signal Processing, SoftCruncher (software performance enhancement), and many more.

Equalis Thunder and Lightning are bundled as options to the Equalis Pro or Pro Plus solutions, and are available with prices starting at only $ 295 per user for Equalis Lightning and $ 1,995 for Equalis Thunder per node. Each Thunder and Lightning module includes support for 16 cores and customers can purchase as many Thunder modules as necessary to scale to their needs. Existing Equalis Pro or Pro Plus subscribers can purchase these new modules as add-ons.

With the introduction of Equalis Thunder and Lightning we have empowered our users and their organizations with next generation parallelization capabilities to enable them to dramatically lower the cost of computationally intensive applications, said Carmine Napolitano, CEO and Co-founder, Equalis. These new capabilities further expand our range of solutions to address the needs of rapidly growing customer base.

We are delighted that Equalis has incorporated our SET technology into its parallel computing solution to provide immediate benefits to its users, said Zvi Tannenbaum, CEO and Founder, Advanced Cluster Systems. Equalis users can now realize the benefits of parallel computing without the challenges and costs typically associated with such deployments.
