Guth, a software marketing veteran, has joined the company as vice president of marketing and chief marketing officer reporting to chief executive Martin Hall. Guth joins from the open source business intelligence company Actuate, where he was most recently vice president and general manager of the open source strategy group and vice president, solutions marketing. In his new role, Guth assumes responsibility for marketing at Karmasphere including: marketing strategy and programs, demand generation, and product management and messaging.
Rich brings a unique combination of software marketing expertise to Karmasphere. He is one of the true pioneers in open source marketing, and has been consistently successful in devising effective marketing programs leading to commercial awareness, acceptance and growth, commented Hall.

Twenty-Five Year Career Addressing Software Market
Guth has built a 25-year career bringing new software technologies to market including development methodologies, Java-based business intelligence and reporting tools, interactive development environments and web application servers. Guth has held senior product management, marketing and sales positions at NeXT Software, Apple, Sybase, Interactive Development Environments and Index Technologies.
As the vice president of marketing at Sendmail, Inc., one of the first companies to offer commercial value-add products for successful open source projects, Guth was among the first executives developing relationships with and offering value to the open source community, including launching one of the first commercial open source developer sites.
Guth graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science.
